The needy people of Motherwell are sleeping more snugly tonight, thanks to a massive donation of bedding and linen from Volpes, distributed by the caring Human Heart Service Organisation (HHSO).

HSSO is a registered non-profit organisation providing community service to the many desperately poor people in Motherwell township. Founded in 2010 by Zamile Futa, its aims are primarily to counsel and uplift families who are being torn apart by the ravages of poverty, HIV Aids, disabilities and physical abuse.

“We are very thankful to Volpes for their kindness and support. The items of linen they brought us have helped uplift the people of Motherwell. It made us all very happy. We don’t receive any assistance from government. I and the other five executive members of HHSO take money out of our own pockets to make soup for about a hundred people every day, so we are very grateful for this kind of support,” Mr Futa said.

UPLIFTED BY LOVELY LINEN
Volpes Marketing Coordinator Christine Normann, centre, was delighted to deliver the linen company’s
donation of R100 000 worth of products to the Human Heart Service Organisation in Motherwell.

Volpes’ donation of linen – worth around R100 000 and delivered to Motherwell in four bakkie loads – is part of the Port Elizabeth-based company’s drive
to add value to the community in which it operates.

Ithemba Lam, a safe haven for babies and young children in Forest Hill, was also touched by the Volpes angels this week when they delivered more than R2000 worth of colourful linen to the home.

“In Motherwell, it was especially moving to be able to go into people’s homes and surprise them with the gift of new linen. People like Mr Futa are trying to make a difference here with next to nothing. We are so glad we could contribute something positive to their lives,” said Christine Normann, Volpes Marketing Coordinator.

“The little children at Ithemba Lam have had such a hard start to life. They were either orphaned or abandoned, or rescued from neglect or abuse. Many are infected by HIV Aids. The Volpes linen will help brighten and colour their young lives.”
